IVF treatment with donor eggs
Despite of high success rates of assisted reproduction methods not all couples are able to achieve a pregnancy by using their own gamets. Those couples have only two options how to have family – receive a donated egg or sperm or get through a long and demanding process of an adoption.
Offers a complex program of donated oocytes.
Has a wide database of donors, which enables us to match a suitable donor without waiting time.
Specialized team of doctors and embryologists has got a long term experience in the oocyt donation program with success rate of 65-70% pregnancies per one cycle.
The egg donation method belongs between highly successful methods of infertility treatment. Eggs gained from an anonymous healthy donor are fertilized by recipient’s partner sperm and resulting embryos are transferred in to the recipient’s uterus - future mother.
The infertility treatment using the donated eggs is for each couple very demanding. Despite of its emotional burden it offers a real chances for a child even to couples which would have zero chance without this method.
Egg donation also brings a clear genetic contribution of a father (50%) compare to adoption as well as the option to have a impact on the nutrition and contentment of the fetus by its mother before the birth. Also the experience of own pregnancy from the very beginning, the birth and the option of breast feeding brings a definite benefit for the child, the mother and whole family.
Who is the Donation for:
For couples, where the woman does not produce own eggs.In most cases it is women where ovaries did not develop or their ovaries were removed during an operation. Also it is for women affected by premature ovarian function failure.
For couples, where the woman does not produce good quality eggs. Here belong women which repeatedly underwent infertility treatment without a gain of good quality eggs or good quality embryos were not achieved. Also higher aged women can be producing low quality eggs which are not able to fertilize or achieved embryos are unable to implant in the uterus.
For couples in which the woman is the transmitter of an inherited disease. In those cases a change in chromosomes was discovered by genetic tests. And those changes could be transferred on the descendants.
Just like in spontaneous pregnancies or pregnancies via ICSI there is 12-15% risk of an abortion when using the Donated egg method. Around 20-30% of pregnancies are multiple, depending on the number of transferred embryos.
The choice of a donor
The egg donation is anonymous, voluntary and free in Czech Republic. Our donors are young women under 34 years which fulfill a criteria given by Czech legislation and Europien tissue directive.
In advance there are gynecological, endocrinology and genetic tests provided for all donors. They are also repeatedly tested for Sexually Transmitted diseases (HIV, Syphillis, Hepatits, Chlamydia) Only donors who pass all those tests are included in to our database.
The treatment cycle
The scheme of a treatment with donated eggs depends on whether the menstrual cycle of the recipient is or is not preserved.
Present menstrual cycle
Before commencing the cycle a GnRH analog is given (Diphereline, Decapeptyl, Zodaldex), its role is to neutralize own hormonal status of a patient which could affect the treatment in a negative way. Injection works for about 3 weeks after that a use of Estrogenes commences. 12-16 days later the ultrasound control of the endometrium is performed and if the conditions are good the patient is ready for embryo-transfer. Like this she can stay for about 6 weeks if Estrogens are used.
Menstrual cycle is not present
After the hormonally induced menstruation preparation with estrogens begins.
During the preparation of the recipients uterine lining the synchronization and a stimulation of the donor begins. When the eggs are mature they are retrieved and fertilized by recipient’s partner sperm (the option to use frozen sperm). On the day of the egg retrieval the recipient starts using pregnancy hormones – progesterons (Utrogestan, Crinone), those prepare the uterine lining for the embryo. The day after the eggs retrieval and their fertilization the recipient is informed on the number and quality of gained embryos. After 3-6 days of embryos cultivation the embryo-transfer of one or two embryos in to the uterus of the recipient-future mother is performed. Any extra, good quality embryos can be cryo-preserved.
After the embryo-transfer the recipient continues with the use of Estrogen and Progesteron for 10-14 days. After this time a pregnancy test is done from blood (hCG). If the test is positive she continues to use those hormones for the next two months. It the test is negative she discontinues all the medication and next course of action is discussed with the doctor.
The decision making proces
The donor egg recipients often face many worries and are troubled by many unanswered questions.
Please do not hesitate to ask for help. Only then you can receive the help you want and need. A big help could be for you a consultation with someone knowledgeable in the egg donation program who could support you in your decision.
Go through your problems step by step. Do not try to solve them all at once. Give enough time to the solution. You do not have to be a 100 percent sure about all the problems but you should be in a overall concordance with your decision.
Look after yourself as well as after your marriage which should be strong and stable enough to go through the selected path and following parenthood.
Legislation in the Czech republic
